How the price is worked out

- The list price of every part in your design, shown line by line with the date we last checked it.
- Our time
- The hours we estimate it takes to make, times the hourly rate for your finish. Ready to assemble needs about 60% of the hours, because you do the last part.

- By the longest side of the box, to US addresses.

- Anything longer than 120 cm, anything that needs an expert to review it, and anything over $1,500 is priced by a person. We reply within 2 days, the quote says how long it is valid, and you pay nothing unless you accept it.

Bring your own AI key
Have an OpenAI or Anthropic account? Add your key in settings and AI requests run on it, using none of your credits. It works on both plans.
- Your key is encrypted before it is stored and is only ever used on our servers, never sent to your browser.
- Your provider bills you directly for what you use.
- Up to 60 requests an hour on Free, 600 on Pro, to keep the service fair for everyone.
Pricing questions
What is a credit?
A credit pays for one piece of AI work. Designing a new project uses 2, changing one by asking uses 1. Opening, turning, simulating and checking your projects never uses credits, because no AI is involved.
What happens when I run out?
Everything except AI requests keeps working: your projects, the simulation, the checks and ordering. Free credits refill every day at midnight UTC. You can also add your own AI key or move to Pro.
Do I need Pro to have something made?
No. Orders are paid one at a time on every plan, including Free. Your plan only changes how much AI design work you get.
Can I cancel Pro?
Yes, any time from your billing settings. Pro stays on until the end of the month you paid for, then your account moves to Free. Your projects and orders are not affected.
Is using my own key cheaper?
It can be if you already pay for OpenAI or Anthropic. Requests on your key are billed by them, not by us, and use none of your Tinkerly credits. Your key is encrypted and only used on our servers.
