Terms of Service

Effective October 5, 2026. Also read our Privacy Policy.

The short version. Your designs are yours. AI can be wrong and the simulation is a model, not a guarantee. Credits have no cash value. Pro renews monthly and you can cancel any time. We make every order to order: cancel before we start building for a full refund, and tell us within 30 days if anything arrives faulty. We can refuse to make anything unsafe.

1This agreement

These terms are an agreement between you and Tinkerly (“we”, “us”). They cover the website, the app, your subscription and every order you place. By creating an account or placing an order you agree to them. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data.

If you use Tinkerly for a company or other organization, you agree to these terms on its behalf and confirm you are allowed to.

2Your account

  • You must be at least 13. To subscribe or place an order you must be an adult, or have a parent or guardian do it for you.
  • An account is for one person. Keep access to your sign-in method secure; you are responsible for what happens on your account.
  • Give us accurate details, especially your email and shipping address.
  • Tell us at hello@tinkerly.dev if you think someone else has used your account.

3What we provide

Tinkerly turns your description into a design: the parts, how they connect, a 3D model, and how the thing should behave. You can change it by asking, run its behavior simulation, check it, share it, and order it made. We improve the service all the time, so features may change. If we remove something you pay for, we will tell you first and refund any part you can no longer use.

4AI designs and the simulation

Designs are generated by AI models. AI output can be wrong: a part may be unsuitable, a measurement off, or a description inaccurate. Read a design before you rely on it.

The behavior simulation is a model of what the design is meant to do. It does not model physics such as strength, heat or water pressure, does not run the real code on the real board, and is not a guarantee that the finished thing will work the same way. Our automatic checks follow fixed rules and catch many common mistakes, but they are not a safety certification. Each project shows which checks it has passed.

When we make something for you, we build and test it to the design you ordered, and section 10 covers what happens if it arrives faulty.

5Acceptable use

You may not use Tinkerly to design, request or order:

  • weapons, parts of weapons, or anything meant to injure people or animals;
  • devices for spying on people without their knowledge, or for getting into systems or places you are not allowed into;
  • anything illegal where you are or where it will be used.

Some designs need a person to review them before we make them: anything that connects to mains electricity, large or high-power batteries, heating elements, fast-moving or heavy parts, or things meant for young children. We may refuse to make anything, for safety or any other reason, and refund you in full if you already paid.

You also may not abuse the service: get around credit limits or rate limits, share accounts to do so, scrape or copy it in bulk, interfere with how it runs, or post content that is unlawful, harassing or infringes someone else's rights. We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules.

6Who owns what

Your designs are yours

You own your prompts and the projects you create, to the extent the law allows anyone to own AI-assisted work. We do not claim ownership of them.

What you let us do with them

  • Store, process and send them to AI providers so the service works for you.
  • Make, test and ship any item you order from them, and use the design to support that order later.
  • For projects you make public: show them to anyone and let other users view and remix them into their own projects. Making a project private ends this from then on, but not for remixes already made.

You confirm you have the right to everything you put into Tinkerly, such as images or other people's designs.

Ours

The Tinkerly software, name, look, component library and example projects belong to us. You may not copy them except as the service allows.

7Plans, credits and billing

AI work, like generating or changing a design, uses credits. Free includes 5 credits a day. Pro costs the price shown on the pricing page and includes 300 credits a month.

  • Credits have no cash value. They cannot be sold, transferred or refunded, and unused credits do not carry over to the next day or billing period.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically every month and are charged to your saved payment method until you cancel.
  • You can cancel any time in your billing settings. Cancelling takes effect at the end of the period you have paid for, and you keep Pro until then. We do not refund part-months, except where the law requires it.
  • If we change the price of a plan, we will tell you at least 30 days before it applies to you.
  • Prices include or add tax as shown at checkout.

8Using your own AI key

If you add your own OpenAI or Anthropic key, requests made with it are billed to you by that provider under its terms, and you are responsible for those charges. We store the key encrypted and use it only for requests you make in Tinkerly. Requests on your own key are rate limited to keep the service fair.

9Ordering a build

Every order is made to order from a specific version of your design, in one of two finishes:

  • Built for you: we build it, test it and ship it working.
  • Ready to assemble: we make and wire every piece, program it and label it. You join the larger pieces using the guide we include.

Prices

You see the full price, made up of parts, our time and shipping, before you pay.

Quotes

Large items, items that need expert review, and orders above $1,500 are priced by hand. A quote is valid for the period stated on it. You pay nothing unless you accept it, and an accepted quote is then an order like any other.

Shipping and delivery

Instant orders ship to addresses in the United States. The delivery times we show are estimates, and we will tell you if an order is going to be late. The item is your responsibility once it is delivered to the address you gave.

When we cannot make it

If we cannot source a part, the design cannot be made safely, or we decide not to make it, we will tell you and give you a full refund.

10Cancellations, defects and returns

  • Before we start building, you can cancel an order for a full refund.
  • Once building has started, the order is being made just for you and can no longer be cancelled.
  • If it arrives faulty or damaged, or does not match the design you ordered, tell us within 30 days of delivery with a photo or short description. We will repair it, replace it or refund you.
  • Otherwise, because every order is custom made, items cannot be returned for a change of mind.

We are not responsible for faults caused by assembling a ready to assemble order differently from the guide, by changing the item, or by using it in a way it was not designed for. Nothing in this section takes away rights you have under consumer law where you live.

11Using what we make

Use each item for what it was designed for and follow any instructions and warnings that come with it. Supervise children who use it. Items we make are not certified for medical, life-support, vehicle-safety or other uses where a failure could cause serious harm, and must not be used for them.

12Ending this agreement

You can stop using Tinkerly and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and will tell you why unless the law or safety stops us. If we close your account without you breaking these terms, we will refund any unused part of your subscription and finish or refund any open orders. Sections 6, 13, 14 and 15 continue after the agreement ends.

13Disclaimers

Apart from the commitments we make in these terms, the service is provided as it is and as available. To the extent the law allows, we do not promise that it will always be available, error free, or that any design it produces is suitable for your purpose.

14Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits or lost data, and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or 100 US dollars.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.

15If something goes wrong

If you are unhappy, please write to hello@tinkerly.dev first; most problems are fixed quickly that way. If a dispute cannot be resolved informally, it will be decided under the law and in the courts that apply to it, and nothing here removes protections you have as a consumer where you live. You agree to cover our reasonable costs from claims brought against us because you broke these terms or the law.

16Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service changes. We will change the date at the top, and if a change materially affects your rights we will tell you by email or in the app at least 14 days before it takes effect. Orders already paid for stay under the terms that applied when you placed them. If you keep using Tinkerly after a change takes effect, the new terms apply.

17Contact

Questions about these terms, an order or your account: hello@tinkerly.dev. If any part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies.
